VR training company: an enterprise program still running six years after go-live.

Custom virtual reality training takes the procedures your team can't practice on live equipment and turns them into reps they can run until the response is automatic. WASD Studio has been building immersive training for large operations since 2010, out of Mexico City and working US business hours: the VR onboarding we delivered to Alsea in February 2020 replaced a full day of in-person video training, and it still runs every week six years later.

A demo reel is easy to judge. Year three is not.

Choosing a vendor for custom VR training isn't a comparison of demo reels: it's a bet on whether the program survives contact with your operation. Scenarios go stale when a procedure changes, headsets end up in a closet after the pilot, and the studio that sold the project moves on to the next one. What you're buying isn't the demo — it's the studio that's still answering when the process changes in month twenty.

  • A scenario that goes stale the first time the procedure changes.
  • A pilot that impressed your committee and never made it to a second site.
  • No way to tell which vendor has actually gotten a program into daily use.

Expected outcomes

Operators who've already made the expensive mistake in a simulator.

A vendor still answering in month twenty, not just at kickoff.

A program still running years after launch, not a pilot that stalls out.

What to ask a VR training company before you sign

Three questions separate a studio that will still be there from one that won't. Who rewrites the scenario when the procedure changes, and on what terms? How many of their programs are still in daily use two years after launch, and what are the client names? What happens to the performance data the program produces, and where does it land — your LMS or their dashboards? We answer all three on the first call, before anyone talks about headsets, because those answers decide whether a simulator becomes an asset or a one-off.

When a VR training simulator is the wrong answer

Half of what a good vendor tells you is where the money shouldn't go. When the constraint is volume rather than presence, the same scenario belongs in a browser: for Coca-Cola FEMSA the honest answer wasn't VR at all, so we built their flagship Picking simulator to run in a browser instead of on headsets. Recommending the format that costs less, when it fits, is the part of this work that never shows up in a demo.

What nearshore actually changes: your hours, your language

We work from Mexico City, which sits at UTC−6 year-round and doesn't observe daylight saving time, so we're never more than two hours off from any time zone in the continental US. The business day overlaps almost entirely with yours, which means a question raised in the morning doesn't wait for an overnight handoff to a team you never speak to. We write, present and deliver in English. And because the build happens in Mexico, an enterprise-grade program is typically a fraction of what a US studio would quote — without the two problems that usually come with offshore work.

Immersive training that's still running six years later

The strongest evidence an immersive training vendor can show is a program that hasn't stopped. We delivered Alsea's VR onboarding in February 2020 and it hasn't stopped since — a new intake every week, across 9 of the group's brands, each rebuilt as its own simulator, Starbucks, Domino's, Chili's and The Cheesecake Factory among them. Six years of continuous operation isn't a case study assembled for a deck: it's a program that survived a pandemic, constant turnover and repeated changes to the procedures it teaches.

VR training solutions for high-turnover operations

VR training solutions matter most where the same critical process has to be taught over and over: high turnover, multiple sites, shifts that all have to do the work identically. We have 16 years of enterprise work behind us, 50+ companies served and immersive development going back to 2010. We've won a Unity Award and been an Augmented World Expo finalist. That's the track record we put in front of you instead of a US logo we don't have.

Alsea

Six years of VR onboarding at Alsea, running without interruption since February 2020.

  • Delivered in February 2020 and never taken out of service — more than 3,000 new hires have gone through it.
  • Replaced a full day of in-person video onboarding with a single immersive session.
  • 9 of the group's brands rebuilt as simulators, each with its own operating procedure.

What we value most about WASD Studio is their capacity for technological innovation. They've made training management with our internal teams enormously easier — something that used to be quite complex to coordinate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have you worked with US companies?

No. We're based in Mexico City, and every enterprise program in our portfolio is with companies operating in Mexico — Alsea, Coca-Cola FEMSA and Teleperformance among them. What WASD Studio can offer instead of a US logo is a track record you can check: named clients, published numbers and programs that have been running every day for years. If a US reference is a hard requirement in your procurement process, better you know it on this page than three calls in.

How much does a custom VR training program cost?

A custom VR training program is priced by scope: how many processes, how many scenarios, how many languages and whether it deploys to headsets, to a browser or to both. WASD Studio comes back with a quote within one business day of the first call. We don't publish a rate card because a one-process safety simulator and a multi-site onboarding program aren't the same project.

Does a VR safety simulator replace our OSHA training?

No. A VR safety simulator supports the OSHA training program you already run; it doesn't replace it. WASD Studio isn't a certifying body and isn't an authorized training provider, so a simulator never issues a credential on its own. What it does produce is a per-person record of what each operator practiced and where they failed — evidence for your internal audit, kept alongside the compliance path your EHS team already owns.

Can VR training scale to thousands of people across multiple sites?

Yes, when the deployment format follows the goal rather than the technology. WASD Studio builds deep-practice scenarios for headsets and delivers the same content in a browser or on a phone when the constraint is volume — that's why Coca-Cola FEMSA's flagship Picking simulator runs in a browser rather than on headsets. Which parts belong in VR gets decided during scoping, on your numbers, and we show the reasoning.

What do you need from us to get started?

Two things get a custom VR training build moving: access to the real process and one or two people who can sign off on how it should be done. WASD Studio captures the procedure on site with the team that runs it — that's how Alsea's brands were rebuilt, working alongside the chefs and operating staff of each restaurant — and everything after capture happens remotely, in English, on your schedule. Site visits are scoped in the quote.

What happens to the program after launch?

A VR training program is only worth building if it survives the changes that come after launch. Alsea's has run continuously since February 2020 — six years of menu changes, turnover and procedure updates absorbed by the same program. How updates are handled on a new build, and who rewrites a scenario when a procedure changes, is agreed as part of the scope before anything is built.
